GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING SERVICES

The PIMSAT Colleges Guidance Center endeavors to help the students and other members of the academic community in their decision making and coping. It offers assistance to this important individual though Counseling, Information, Placement and Testing Services. The office is run by the qualified counselor whose main duty is to help all the students feel at home and maintain a normal and well-adjusted college life.

ACADEMIC CONSULTATION PROGRAM

Students who meet difficulties in their academic life may also see the instructors for academic and even non-academic problems at the consultation room. The Dean’s help may be sought anytime. Every student is likewise free to consult the Dean of his Department on his academic problems.

MEDICAL SERVICES

PIMSAT Colleges Medical Clinic is maintained to promote, prevent and protect the health of the College Community. It performs both preventive and curative functions. Medical and physical examinations of the students and the college staff are undertaken yearly as part of its services, particularly to the students. Any illness of a student must be reported to the Medical staff. If the student is attended by a family physician, a certificate to that effect must be presented. All absences due to illness must be certified to by the College physician before an excuse call slip can be issued.

PLACEMENT BUREAU

Placement bureau is established in order to assist the graduated in seeking employment opportunities for the different employers either for local employment or overseas employment. Any student may obtain assistance for possible employment by submitting personally his credentials to the placement bureau. Documentary assistance is also provided b y this bureau to those students seeking for employment abroad.

SHIPBOARD TRAINING OFFICE

The Shipboard Training Office makes arrangements with the shipping companies for the shipboard apprenticeship of PIMSAT Colleges students and supervises the practical shipboard training for the midshipmen in accordance with the STCW ’78 Convention, as amended and national regulations. It also maintains and keeps records of the apprentice on file, makes constant follow-ups, evaluates and recommends performance of the apprentice, reports to the Dean any untoward  incidents and/or commendations pertaining to the apprentice’ performance and activities.
